Agree, you can get a nice new Guild case for under $200Simply gorgeous! Personally, I would just ditch the case. Having an original case is important to a lot of folks, but thry’re not a big deal to me at all & I’ve never had much luck resurrecting odd smelling cases.
Was actually just looking into this now! Would appreciate any recommendations for a case that would work. Are there any Newark St. models that are comparable in size?Agree, you can get a nice new Guild case for under $200

Funny you mention it. I ordered that exact 335 case yesterday. It seems to be a little deeper and longer than the original case. I have some spare foam to prop it up if need be. Will know tomorrow when it arrives. If this doesn't work I'll probably try a Gator pro-go acoustic gig bag.I prefer thermoplastic cases. Gator’s “inexpensive” ES-335 style case should fit it just fine. It’s a little deep, which should readily accommodate a Bigsby, or you can prop it up slightly under the endpin if need be. I have my ‘97 Starfire III (Bigsby swapped out) resting comfortably in one:
Hmm, sounds like Gator has changed this product. If I recall correctly, I bought my case around 2017, and the '97 Starfire fits it easily. The depth is plentiful, to the point where I have a small pad under the guitar. Regardless, hope the next one you have coming is a winner!Sadly the 335 case was a no go. It was way too shallow and not wide enough (and slightly scuffed the side of the guitar when I tried to put it in ).
Maybe the Starfire has a thinner body. The x-160 is around 3” deep + the bigsby height.Hmm, sounds like Gator has changed this product. Yes - the Starfire is only around two inches deep. I didn’t realize the X-160 had more depth. Again, hopefully the case you have coming will be a perfect fit!Maybe the Starfire has a thinner body. The x-160 is around 3” deep + the bigsby height.
