Just picked this one up thanks to a tip from my friend Shelby (thanks my man!!!!) It's one I'd heard of, had never seen, heard or played so of course, it was on my list to try and score.

I'd never seen one before on any of the selling sites and I'm on them every day and spend way too much time there. I've got to believe it was a pretty limited run.

Now, I've owned bunches of F 30's and never really bonded with them to be honest I owned a 50's Maple version that was quite nice but I would have had to invest quite a bit into it so I passed it along. Also, several Mahogany versions that never really did it for me and also 3 or 4 RW versions which were nice but not so much so I kept them. Lastly, I did own the 60th Anniv. KOA which was superb (I really wish somebody here had bought that) but I had to raise cash to buy something else I wanted more so I sold it as well.

I bought this one at Carter Vintage Guitars in Nashville after Shelby told me about it. They were great to deal with and I thought it was priiced fairly so I bought it. It's a Rosewood version and the LS stands for long scale. So far, I must say I really like it. Maybe it's partly the new guitar euphoria but I don't think so. It's nice and crisp (unlike many RW guitars I've owne) is well balanced and has plenty of voice/projection for my needs. I love the binding and pretty much everything about this guitar. It's similar to how I define my Finesse, also from the Nashville Custom Shop. Understated Elegance. The case is also superb, an alligator tolex look with the Custom Shop badge. The guitar is pretty minty with what looks to be all of the original saddle height remaining.

I really respect the offerings that came from the Nashville Custom Shop. I have the Deco, 45th Anniv., Finesse and now this F 30R LS. I at one time also had a JF 65 and a JF 65-12 I believe came from there as well. Excellent workmanship and different than any of the other production runs and I like that. They also had a Valencia Concert model I'd like to get my hands on at some point.

I knew little about this model so I messaged Frank and of course, he had a lot of info, he always does. This model was discussed here on LTG a while back and I even posted on that original post but couldn't remember doing so. (another sign of old age I guess)

Anyway, I digress. Here's a few pics.

Man, that's gorgeous. Congrats!

I love the vibe at Carter's - very much a working musician's shop as opposed to the private bank vibe I get from that other high-end Nashville shop.

Nice score Richard! Love the RW headstock with script logo. The tortoise binding is just the right touch to its understated elegance. Looking forward to hearing more about it. Another successful Shelby enablement.

And quick shipping. Always a pleasure to do dealings with you Richard. You are a good omen to me. The same day you bought your F30R LS, my Gibson j 100 Xtra sold at Carter's

Ha! I wondered who Frank might be.

Gorgeous guitar, Richard. Does it have a 1 and 11/16 inch nut?
