That particular song was written by Lucinda Williams, and is part of her excellent "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" release. And as far as Alison Krauss goes, she could sing the phone book, and I'd be rapt. I adore everything she has done since the first time I heard her in 1990.I would love to hear Alison Krauss do a Zep rock song, not some toned down bluegrassy version.
Yes sir! I saw her with AKUS, and she was magnificent. That particular song was written by Lucinda Williams, and is part of her excellent "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" release. Indeed that is JD (one of the best live shows you'll ever see), and Alison's brother Viktor (Lyle Lovett's long-time bassist) to his right. When you're Robert Plant, you sure can put together a great band!Is that JD McPherson, & what guitar is he picking?
Great guitar tone.
They sound really good together!! Nice!!
I hear ya. The first one, especially Killing The Blues, was really good. This one sounds to be a continuation of it, but by no means surpasses it in any form. I'm sure it'll grow on me, but most of all the live performances aren't to be missed. They'll likely once again expand on a bunch of tunes they didn't put on either record. TBone picked literally dozens of tunes for them to record....as did Plant and Kraus this time around. I'm sure some likely didn't translate well in the studio, but would be really great live.I love their duo music! I've had the chance for just one focused listen of the new album, which hasn't grabbed me quite like the first one. Their first album had several songs that really stood out for me, I'm hoping the new one develops that as well.
I agree. A lot of folks blame Robert Plant for the fact that there hasn't been a led Zeppelin reunion. And as much of a Zep fan as I am, I think what he's been doing in his solo career is at least as good, if not better.I love the fact that Robert Plant's solo career has been an ever evolving trip. As much as I love Jimmy Page, he has been stuck in the past, with essentially no new music for decades.

And as MUCH of a Zep fan I am....I absolutely agree with you that what he's doing now would be better than any current juke box Bonzoless Zep played by 75 year olds...definitely. But.... nothing he or anyone else from Zep have ever done since 1980 has ever scratched the surface of what that collective 4 could do in their prime.I agree.
