I read the whole Dune stuff when I was much younger...I used to read lots of sci-fi then. (40 years later , only Philip K.Dick and Huxley's Brave New World stand out!!).I enjoyed Dune, it was so fashionably underground then, that spice-thing looked interesting(?), except there were 3 or so books ,so it kinda ....dissolved into boredom.. Long sagas, i.e Bilbo the Hobbit, after the 3rd sequel, ok, got it !!!..At least , there is no unicorn, which is the ultimate test :" What's that? A unicorn?Forget it!!".The 1st movie was ridiculous, and I would not pay to watch the 2nd one. Sting is mighty fine, but not my cup of tea. I suggest to the suggestible listener his live cover of "Little Wing" in Spanish , a true exemple of turning 1967 gold into 1980es lead.(Oh no , Vinnie!!!Don't!) Then again, hearing Sting on the radio is a "blessed relief" most of the times.

Why disappointed? Have you read the book?
I read a lot, and I loved the first Dune movie, but oddly, I haven't read Dune. (Actually, I went to a library once to check it out and was totally confused by what seemed like 10 Dune books. Which is the first? I finally gave up.)

The new Dune movie was so... so grandiose. It was the score, the soundtrack, I swear! Throughout the whole movie the "music" was so swelling, so grandiose, as if every scene was just the most spectacular ever imagined. It really bugged me. (And it sure is LOUD in a theater. We haven't been in a theater for quite a while.) And the Paul character was an odd choice. He did a good job, but he was scrawny. Except for some predictably upgraded GCI and effects, it wasn't A LOT different from the first Dune movie. And at 2 1/2 hours, it's only perhaps half way through the story!
