How many of you have an S300 or other model with the same shaped body?

Just curious to know how many others have one of these guitars. I don’t Really see any posts on these. I am also wondering how rare these are. Very few come up for sale, and when they do, they are kind of expensive.

I have an S300D that I bought that was missing a saddle, and had worn frets. I got it for $595 almost 2 years ago with the original case. I am in it about 700 bucks After parts and some light restoration. I don’t know what other models there are in the series. I really like the body shape.

Ive only seen one locally once in the las 30 years, and I pounced on it. Any historical info on these guitars would be greatly appreciated. Please post pics of yours.

A lot of us own them. They can be difficult to search for using the forum so try site:letstalkguild s300ad (as an example) on google for better hits. They're not really all that rare, but they're not all that popular with the general guitar population, either.

Here are some of my writeups on the various models:

I own many of these guitars and will eventually get around to reviewing them all.

The rare bolt on version, which actually pre-dates the set neck one. Stunning!
The Nov 1, 1976 pricelist showed: “detachable…maple neck”!
Guild Marketing obviously had planed for such bolt-on neck version initially but they never made it into production, I assume due to the neck pocket that had certain issues. Probably only a maximum of 9 to 10 in slightly different shapes and configurations were ever made. (I've pictures of 6 but counted probably about 8 to 9 from various discussions so far).

Hi Ralph

Here is a bad photo of mine with the ‘detachable’ neck.

Is it a bolt on neck?
Yes, as mentioned. Again, they were slightly different from each other, here is mine:

Very cool! I didn't have that one in my list yet! See your private messages, I sent you something.

I have a '79 S-300 the same color as Ralf's but mine has a set neck. I'll most likely be touring with it (West Coast) in January 2022. I love the neck, and I feel like it's a perfect weight. The odd body shape is nicely balanced, not awkward at all to play.

I'd love to have an S-300A, and I'm also into the tobacco sunburst S-300s.

Not a DiMarzio fan so not interested in an S300-D (I owned one briefly).

Does the B-402 have a walnut stained top or is it a mahogany veneer? It's looks great!
