My Dad died last night at 11:30 est. He was 81.
He had Altzheimers real bad, not that anyone can have that in any good way. It's a cruel disease.
I flying out next week to be around the family, help out Mom and stuff. Will be good to see my brothers and other family members I have not seen in years...

I was playing the F30r a lot last night, like probably for 90 minutes over a 2-3 hour period. Then I got into this tuning and worked out this progression, and I just was really digging it. While playing it, maybe 3 minutes in total, I was just totally into it. I find this happens as you all do too when you play for an extended session. But there was just something different during those 3 minutes, like more akin to joy. I don't think I can really explain it. Turns out, my dad passed away while I was playing/recording it.

Anyone care to guess the tuning I was in? Yeah. DADDAD.

So sorry for your loss. You are right, it is a cruel disease.

I have a special appreciation for people with Alzheimer's; they are my "choir."

Beautiful tune you composed for your Dad.

That is a beautiful post and a beautiful song, Woody. The timing of the creation of the song, and the tuning. are one of those things that cannot be explained, but makes one wonder about a "higher power".

My condolences to you and you family. :(

And I for one always enjoy your posts, keep 'em coming.

Very sorry to hear this Woody. I lost my stepdad to Alzheimer's, and it was really awful. I'm glad my mom wasn't around for that, because it would have been even harder on her.

Sorry to hear that, Woody! But I'm glad that you felt some kind of connection through this nice tune, maybe it was his way to say goodbye to you. All the best to you and your family!

thanks Sandy! yeah, it's tough to watch, and my Mom had to deal with it for a decade we think.
