Anyone got interesting names for their guitars? I have an F50 I christened "Marilyn" (blonde, curvy and beautiful!) and my D25 is "Dora" ( picked up at a swapmeet in Mount Dora in Florida)

Named my very first flat-top (an '80 or so Korean Carlos) Stringeater due to the adjustable metal saddle's insatiable appetite for G-strings. 🙃
See my sig for the others. :)

Peggy is my 68 Starfire 3. Named after my M-I-L after she passed away.

Never named mine but if I had to I guess Grandpa (the Pbass) and Tiger (the Gibson). One sounds like an old grandpa and one sounds like a tiger and has a tiger stripe looking maple neck back.
The Ricky and the Starfire don’t remind me of anything in particular so no names come to mind.

Never felt the need to name them. "The B-50", "The Betts", "The JS", "The Pilot", "The Starfire" and "The Newark Street". If any of my cats ever answered to their names maybe I'd feel differently.

I'm with frono and Guildedagain. For years it was "the D-64" now it's "the F-30".

I just refer to them by their model name. I don't have a nickname for them, but if I did, Excalibur seems to be a natural choice.

I remember an interview with Keith Richard saying he named his stage guitars, "Micawber" for example, so he could just shout the name to the stage crew who would then know exactly which one to bring out.

Hmm...by model name--not just the Guilds but the Nationals and Dobros. For almost 30 years I let any new animal choose its own name. I run through a list of 20 different sounding names and the first one they respond to is their name. I figure they know more than I do. I guess I should try that with my instruments, but somehow I'm not sure it would work. Oh--and all my cats come when I call their names--Manx cats are more like dogs in their behavior
(which is just as well--my Basenjis are more cat-like than other dogs).

When I came home one day to find my roommate (who was gonna be moving out in a week) had rescued an abandoned kitten maybe only a couple of weeks old which of course he wasn't going to take with him, I said "Yeah thanks buddy"....but while I was sitting the couch figuring out what to do it crawled up onto the back of the couch and then onto my shoulder and just perched there, and that was that.

So in the interests of raising it right, when I'd open up a can of food for dinner, which sound it learned to recognize in about 3 days, I'd also repeat the name I'd chosen for it ("Swee'pea" after the baby in the Popeye cartoons) a few times all the way to the point of putting it on the floor.

Couple of weeks later I had the opportunity to test it: Cat was "stuck" in a tree. Kept saying its name while opening a can of food, then went back inside. Sure enough, about 5 minutes later, it came prancing into the kitchen meowing, and was rewarded with dinner. 😃

After that it'd come when I called, most times. :D And for about 3 months she loved to ride on my shoulder as I walked around, until she got a wee bit too big....:(
