Ray suggested I give them a whirl in some thread I had going. I bought a pack of .12-.53 Nano PBs. Pretty much the most popular string for acoustics if you go to many of the string buying sites re both Customer Reviews and Popularity. Ray does a lot of fingerstyle too, and as I leave my pick days behind, I am playing way more fingerstyle on the D35 and the F30R. So not so concerned about string shedding, my main complaint over the years re Elixir.

Well, after reaching my wager date with Al, I put the Elixirs on my '83 D35, as the D'A EJ16s on the F30R and the Br still have lots of life left. I know, right? I am winning the battle of OCD and string changing me thinks...

And wow! What a difference these strings make. As good sounding as EJ16s but the Elixir PBs seem to have a better snap and tension to them that allows for a stronger attack. I do not explain things very well, I apologize. But, just wow, Ray was right on.

Now, the cost is bit more, but the Elixirs should help me not change strings so much. Still, it really is about the awesome powerful tone and string feel. I am a fan.

I plan to string up all my Guilds with these strings over the next couple months, once the EJ16s wear out. YMWV of course but wowzer! 👍

I swear anyone who says they hate Elixer has never tried the Nanos. I freaking love them.

really GAD, I am sold. Thank you Rayk!

best part, i think i have found a cure for my OCD changing string issue. as the cost will be too much for me to just swap them out all the time like un-coateds. i am too frugal for that. physician just healed himself. well technically, it was Ray so i guess he will send me a bill...

I can't say I hated them when I tried a set, but I can't seem to get used to any coated string. Doesn't matter who makes them, I just can't get used to the feel.

For me it’s the tension. Light gauge strings are typically too loose feeling to me while mediums are just too much. These feel stiffer which is good but not too tense.

Good thing I never went into marketing. I write words but don’t really organize them well. 😂

I only have one box of Elixirs left in my string drawer!! Considering I have 3 guitars desperately needing strings, it's a toss up who gets the Elixirs. In addition to my procrastination, the damn parrot bit the hell out of my right thumb and got it really good!! Gonna have to let it heal up a bit before any restringing!!

It's possible you love this bird, so my apologies if so, but if it bites you, it sounds like it might be time to string up the parrot, not the guitar...

It's Don's parrot and he only tolerates me. We have a fairly decent relationship, but I'm not Don and never can be to the bird. The bird is playful but he doesn't get that from him, only from me. So we play and I roll him up in the blanket and he screams and trots around and gets excited. I put him on the big dust mop for the floors and push him around and he loves it!! Unfortunately, with that level of involvement, he gets excited. And he bites Don too. Why he loves that bird I have no idea. but it's like a spouse with hideous family. You just kinda learn to tolerate it..... He's 37 years old!! How much longer can he last??? No, really? How much longer???

I have tried the Polywebs on my electrics and I liked them! They kept their tone and saved me many a string change through the humid months. I can't seem to find the polywebs now. Are the Nanowebs as good?

The nanos are brighter big time vs the polys. I also like the polys as they really warm up a bright guitar. The nanos have a brilliance to them.

My mother had an African grey parrot. One day her husband David was at the cage making kissy noises to said parrot (who would do it back) when the parrot decided he'd had enough and put hit nice sharply curved beak right through David's lower lip.

That bird was crazy smart, but I'm just not much of a bird person.

I will have to give them a try this summer. I wasn't sure whether to try the Nano's or the Optiweb. Thanks!

The Optiwebs are electric-only.
