My dogs got under my feet and caused me to trip over and crash into my D40 (2020 Oxnard) - some very light back of headstock damage, but more disheartening is the dings on the back of the neck - down by the 10-12th frets

I’m telling myself it’s the life of a guitar, and I can still play (really no playability issues, and it’s rare I’m down that far anyway). Only I’ll know as I’m not planning on selling (I guess you all now also know!)

thankfully the recently acquired f50 was unscathed! No more dogs in myoffice/guitar room!

there is also now a nice big mark in the wall. Am glad to see the legendary build quality of guild remains - could have been a. Lot worse - I got off lightly!

I don’t know if it’ll work but some dents can be steamed out

Also my nicer stuff is in a hardshell case when not used. That was my policy after snapping the neck on a Fernandes Jackson Dinky copy that I loved. Was renecked but was never really the same.

Thanks, Rambozo!

I don’t think this is one that could be remedied - there’s a small amount of finish “checking” (very small) and a reasonably deep-ish edent - luckily even when down around the 12th I can’t feel it - and just glad I didn’t crack or break the neck - have hardshells- might start using them again! (I just love having them at hand for inbetween calls! I guess it’s not too much more effort to unlatch a case if it means they’ll be safe!)

sounds like it can happen to the best of us!

Ugh! Dogs and (little) kids around my guitars made me crazy. Glad the damage was minimal.

Well, it doesn't sound minimal, and I feel your sorrow. You can't blame your dogs, they were just being dogs, which are not responsible. You must take this moment and secure your guitars, in the event you have little kids around or cats and dogs that roam their territory. I hope this is the end of your tales of guitar mishaps.

Thanks all - and in all honesty it’s all probably overblown in my head - it is truly minimal in the grand scheme of things, but lesson learned - and dogs were not blamed - good buddies just wanted to be in the room with me!

You're taking it on the chin, but these guitars are to blame for the shape they come in.

Instead of stands, I've always hung them. It keeps them easily accessible, adds beauty to the room and keeps them safe from younger, inquisitive, brats, dogs and stumbles.

Sorry, the Guilds are on the other wall, but L-R Gibson J50, Martin(s) D16H, OM21, and 0018.

D40s are wonderful and feel some of your pain. But it could have been worse as you already mentioned -- could have been the F50 you just got from Richard.

Yea very grateful it was not! It’s a lesson - hardshells or walls for me - although one of dogs has the ability to jump and clear several feet off the floor so I’m thinking cases might be the safest option!

Aarfy, you have one life to live, and it's short. Just don't worry about it. How likely is that to happen again? Just stop being so clumsy!!!! :)

Don't know if this makes you feel any better, but Mojo is a valid condition for lovers of guitars that look worse than they play. I bought this early 60's Hoboken era F30 for a great price in 'as is' condition. I would compare it to the tone of small bod spruce/hog Martins any day, but with the funky back I haven't gotten around to re-finishing, the BB shot hole in the top below the high E bridge pin, and the name Andy scratched into the bass side upper bout, I can't be worried about the cosmetics. Dropping those expectations has allowed me to pick up better quality players for reduced prices,
