You think we will ever see a Newark Street S-300?

Just a thought, I don’t know if there’s enough demand for it however.

I doubt it, unless they do a limited run for a year. I think players would prefer the more more traditional NS S-100 to an S-300.

What’s the going rate for a S-300 with the factory Guild humbuckers these days?

If I recall correctly...didn't someone on LTG mention receiving an inquiry from Cordoba/Guild about the potential interest of a reissued S300?

I kinda like the looks of these Guild s-300 solid bodies. And Guild definitely has a cooler headstock than Gibsons (as long as it has the Chesterfield on it).
Ooooooh...the originals came with ebony fingerboards....ain't gonna get that in a Newark Street. Nor a phase switch. Two reasons right there to go vintage.

The only "S100" I can recall with an ebony fingerboard is the S200 that Grot has (like a super-deluxe S100), and his is the only one of that model I've ever seen.

That's correct, back in October 2019 they had catalog pictures of the S-300 and B-301 on Facebook and asked "Who'd like to see a reissue of these two?" There were 160 comments about it, so users liked to discuss them.

Only a few days earlier in that week back in October 2019 a user had posted a request to bring the S-300 back! Below was Guilds answer and that mentioned Friday post was the one above.

GAD, catalog in the orange banding above the guitar neck says s300 and 300d models had ebony board. So I was saying I don't think that in this day and age an ebony board will be on a NS guitar.
I like the 300 and the 100 looks. I would be torn which to get if they were both available at the same time.

Sorry - I may have been confused there!

If Guild did reissue the S300 I can't imagine being anything but dissapointed. As you said, there's no way it will be ebony, they'll put the lame import adjust-o-matic bridge on it, it will probably get those terrible open-back tuners, probably won't have the phase switch, and will generally be an abomination in the eyes of GAD.

In that case I better pony up cash for the OG before the reissue ends up happening. I remember the S100’s still being fairly cheap 10 years ago until the reissue came out. Naturally the price of the original seems to have shot up.

I’d like to get one with the Guild pickups in it. I’m not particularly interested in the Dimarzio loaded guitars because I tried a super distortion and it’s many variations and know what to expect from those. I was hoping to find a S-250 with Guild humbuckers but I think those are a rarity all their own.

So is the 300 just a 100 with the tailpiece closer to bridge and different body shape?
Electronics design/layout looks the same. Just the body cut different.

I think the S-300 had a 24 fret neck. The S-100 I believe is 22

Correct. And an ebony board. And a different shape. And options for Dimarzios. It's really not "just an S100". In fact I didn't really like S100s until recently.

That S-200 is fantastic! I wonder why Guild didn't make more? They offered the M-75 with the same gold hardware and ebony board so that's easy. The upscale bound headstock with G-shield and unusual diamond inlays are the unique features. Ah what could have been...

There was much speculation when the NS line came out concerning what the effect would be on the used vintage/market. The speculation was influenced by whether "inspired by" instead of "reissue" made a difference to the market, or not. You seem to be saying that vintage S-100 prices did rise. I would say that vintage Starfire I bass prices rose slightly but vintage M-85 bass prices were already so high they had nowhere to go and so didn't. So, a decade later, is it generally true that the prices of vintage Guilds with a NS sibling rose more than the general market or only true for specific models or are Guilds just riding a general rise in vintage prices?
