Ok pic time not the greatest but good enough I hope . Lol

ok the guitar has some defects , looks like the bridge was reset or it could be a sloppy factory job. To me it looks like the bridge set just a tad wrong and was slide forward .

There’s what could be Nitro or CA glue that’s pushed out from sliding forward or squeeze out and not cleaned up good . Between the sound hole and bridge the finish has some pitting/popped bubbles . Their not big though and you can see them if you look .
So aside from a few chips and scuffs I feel cleaning up would not be hard to do just time consuming.
The tone
you can definitely tell the difference between it’s sister guitar. Both have Adirondack tops and ebony finger board and bridge .The CO-2
Has more sustain and overtones as the CV-2 has I want to say dryer sound and a tad bit less sustain and less reverb but clearer in over tone and note separation .
It could use a RayK neck reset to fix the slight dreaded 12th hump and fret board dive at the end . There’s a wee little gap between it but not bad enough to mess with “ unless I get board “ lol. By no means is this a bad guitar just different. She plays nicely another “ you can feel the body shake “ there’s a good chance that maybe it’s not broke in yet and still has a way to go it is Adirondack after all.
Ok pics right ? Here we go ... 😊

Very nice! Congratulations! I have a CV-1 and a CV-2, and would love to pick up a CO sometime.

I didn’t say until now . Lol
Naughty boy. Naughty naughty boy. 😁

And here you are about to go under the knife. Contributing an NGD post with pics and all. Lotta work. Thank you!

Still further confirming your status as the forum's single most experienced Contemporary Series owner. Or at least that posts, anyway.:D

Yep. I like the headstocks on those, too (nice avatar, btw :).) And the script logo seems to presage the Orpheum logo, too, no?

Stormin, don't know if you've seen Ray's earlier threads covering the neck work he did on his own CV-2, but that and a couple of other threads he did are why I say he's gotta be the forum's single most experienced owner of "C" series guitars. Worth looking for if you like that kind of stuff. ;)

Oh, that thread... Yes, I've read it. I'm a tech/luthier, and have a customer that has a "reconditioned" CV-1 that I have worked on. That was my introduction to Guild Contemporary Series guitars, and I bought my CV-2 from him.

Both of mine are 2006 models. They are both great guitars with very different voices. Love the neck profiles and 1-3/4" nut.

Oooooo we’re two pees in a pod with Contemporary models . Hehehe .

I mentioned above that it needs a reset and the top/neck block is the culprit! .
I honestly don’t understand the lame design.

They should of just made the block go all the way to the top wood without needing spacers which is main reason for all this extra work .
I’d love to get a non MRIC cv or co with guild serial number instead of the red sticker of doom ! I like see if the same issue carries over to those .I kind of think it has to but I’m not sure .
One day I’ll find out . I know I said it before but these guitars sound great and if anyone gets a chance to try and or buy one . You know have two folks that can fix them now . Lmao 😊😃😁

Stormin155 , I just have to say this but blame Adorshki. Because he mentioned your avatar .
How dare you good sir put a picture of two beautiful CV’s as a avatar with one having a upside down truss rod cover !!

For shame and sacrilege !!!!! And I say Née unto you ! If not corrected we will have to call you a witch , no no no in this case warlock ! Hmmm I guess we’d have to weigh him using a goose instead of a duck also.

if not corrected then , To the scales !!!

OK OK! I'll turn it around! Geesh! Meanwhile, here's the backside of my CV-2. I've never been able to adequately capture it.... one of the most spectacular backs I've ever seen. It's like that tree grew with the sole purpose of becoming that guitar.

Yes that is pretty . Mine is ok but up close it’s a bit better as maple has that Iridescent sheen to it and that is hard to capture at least with a cell phone . Lol

Did you have neck work done/reset? I have to go back and your post I think you mentioned something. Lol
Im kind of curious, can you take a good picture from the side of fret board extension? But level with the top as best you can get it ?

Nothing has been done to this guitar. There is a slight hump in the soundboard at about the 16th/17th fret, but the fingerboard is level. I have had no issues with it. I have not had any issues with my CV-1 either.

How about one from the other side then I leave you alone.
Yeah I can see the fret board gaps along the top . It’s hard to say for sure but the neck block goes back to that second marker or close to it . If the top has hump it’s caused by those spacers between the graphite block and top . 😊
