Aaawww! The black one looks like our Jubilee, and the tabby like our Felix. Both long in Heaven. Beautiful kitties!

Maia (the Siamese) was supposed to go with my ex when she moved out, but she had other ideas. She hid in the basement, and we couldn't find here, so I ended up with custody. She's a little on the noisy side (typical for a Siamese) and a bit bipolar at times, but I love her anyway.

We had a Siamese, or Siamese mix - he was found stray when a kitten. One day at the barn out of the corner of my eye something whizzed past, and in hot pursuit was Ninja Cat (he was HUGE for a cat). I thought he was chasing a small dog or a big rabbit but it was a fawn!! I distracted him long enough for the fawn to make its getaway and go hide. No idea how long Ninja had been chasing him and don't know if the fawn's mom ever found him or not, but I was surprised to see a cat chasing a deer.

I'm not surprised. Dogs can get as big as a small horse, (think GAD's), and still be loveable...and no one would think twice about you owning it or leaving the kids alone w/it.

Try that with a cat the size of a Golden Retriever....cats are wired different. We're lucky with the current batch, they get along great with the 4 dogs for the most part but every once in awhile they'll swat one just to prove who is King. So funny to see the look on a 50lb mutt's face after being swatted by a 5 lb, (if that), cat.

Not too happy about this - our two male dogs got into a fight and the big dog chomped the little dog quite badly - had to take him to the Vet for stitches. So that cost us $800.00, of course it happened on the weekend, so emergency rates applied. Damn dogs sometimes!

Yeah the dog in my avatar stepped on a large thorn 2 weeks ago and it went through the pad through to the webbing around a toe. $350!

Did you know that dogs can fly?

At least over water - Kelly-Boy flying over West Lake Sylvia MN - about august-september 1981

Camera had 400 film - so picture is not as sharp as it should.

Marco was such a good little fellow...

I had a Shepweiler. Her mom, German Shepherd, was imported from Germany for breeding. Her dad, the neighborhood Rottweiler, agreed with the plan. The owners of the German Shepherd were none too pleased. They were giving the puppies away and my sister got the last one as a Christmas present for me. Best dog I ever had. At her peak she was 110 pounds and went with me everywhere. My grandmother said she used to worry about me traveling alone, but not after I got Indiana.

"We named the dog Indiana."

And that's exactly why. I was having a hard time coming up with a name so at the vet's office they marked her file "ND" for new dog. A few days later I rented The Last Crusade and at the end they said the dog's name was Indiana, and her file was already marked N-D at the vet's office. Husband and I were not yet married, but I figured if we got married and he adopted her then she would become (drum roll) -- Indiana Jones! And she was. It was fate.

And "I have very fond memories of that dog."
