You know, I've been retired now for almost two years. I have always looked younger than I really am. I guess it shouldn't surprise me that I'm Starting to look my age. But when I look in the mirror, I don't recognize the guy looking back at me.
Playing my Covid show on my back deck the wife took some photos. Holy Crap. Who is that guy. In my brain I'm still 25 years old. No wonder the girls don't look at me anymore. I just turned into a fat old man. Oh well.....I can still play and sing.

Exactly. In my brain I'm 22! But my body strongly disagrees!

Life is peppered with sobering moments like these. In my dreams I'm young and good looking (as much as I ever was) and trim and in some I can even fly!! Levitation and flying are favorites of mine. But as time goes by when I wake up it's to a sobering reality of fact. People tell me I look young or at least youthful "for my age". And it helps some. But after both heels being rebuilt from bone spurs, four total joint replacements (2 knees and 2 hips), and a recent fall fracturing an ankle and dislocating my most recent hip I have been hard pressed to feel very "young". The truth is I'm 67 as of last month and at least 50 pounds overweight. People snap photos candidly when I've made myself a homemade guitar sleeve and affixed it with a chip bag clip and I'm smiling and looking stupid......

But the fact that I'm smiling, have guitars to play and when I think about it I'm fairly healthy, then I realize that things could be a whole lot worse! A whole lot. So laugh at my stupid photo, but mostly laugh at my jokes, and enjoy what you have while you have it. We're none of us getting any younger.......

well i kinda "stopped evolving" when I was about 17 years old. at 43 now, so much has changed, and in so, so, many ways...i just feel exactly the same. When I hear people say "40 is the new 20," i think to myself "hey, i am not so far behind after all...maybe there is still hope?"

i will say though, I have looked exactly the same for about the last 16 years, since I started shaving my head due to hair loss. People tell me all the time I look younger than I actually am (certainly i feel younger as eluded to above) only problem is i was not such a looker even back when i was young...ahhh...at least i own nice guitars

Just wait. The next 15 to 20 years will be an eye opener.

In my mind I’m still 25. Until I try to do ... anything.

Velvet,

I think the Gibson makes you look old.

Actually, in all due respect I think an age appropriate hair cut will make you look much younger than the GAD-ish doo from the 80's.

Look at David Gilmore.

That's my Covid hair do. Had wife cut it last week. My hair has been long since 1968. Shorter now than its been since I was 8 years old.
If my choices are looking old, or playing a Taylor. I'll look old. I was more concerned with the fat than the hair or the guitar.

I hope no offense was taken, I was purposely deflecting the fat old man statement with the guitar and hair quip.

My favorite phrase was from a guy I had not seen in 25+ years looked at me up and down, (I was 25 lbs heavier), and he said...you look prosperous

oh and I took a shot at GAD as well...he was posting historical pix with hair like yours.

So my humor went over like a lead balloon.

No, bee.... it was funny and I enjoyed it. Sometimes these things just kinda fail on a forum or in text form. But i thought it was funny and I enjoyed it.

With some of the things I've been called in my life. I don't think you guys could offend me. My response, in this so sensitive time would be. Can you read my mind?
