Woke up yesterday morning 9/11 to find out a seller had accepted my offer for a Guild Tweedy Bird for about $100 shipped. It's not like I don't remember making the offer but I went on Reverb to look for a Starfire real quick, and if I keep satisfying the urge by buying trinkets like this I won't have any dough left when the Starfire pops up.

And in the middle of all this madness and readying for fire evacuation and possibly even war, I'm shopping for junk, like I don't have enough?

GAS is your friend.

I feel better when I shut out the whole world and think about nothing but guitars. And that's just one of the benefits.

The other is that this same day, after playing my guitar, I felt so much better than I did before playing my guitar, the therapeutic value was undeniable.

To get more of this benefit, play two or three guitars instead of just one in what I like to call a "tone test".

And I can excuse these bouts of outright laziness by rationalizing that I will sell the guitar that doesn't pass, lol...

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. "I'm not really playing, I"m trying to figure out which guitars to get rid of" ;]] Or "I know it sounds like I'm just playing guitar up here, but I'm really working" ;]]]

I can ride the laurels of one sale for a long time, and that makes it all legit.

Even gear shopping becomes excusable "looking for bargains" ;]]

But it's really all about the escape. I've always collected something my whole life. It makes you forget about yourself for a minute.

And these days, it helps to forget about the apocalypse.

Variety is the spice of life... even if it comes in the form of a mosquito-tone mini-amp. Have fun, that's all that counts. :)
