The dealer network was getting revamped under FMIC but the sale followed by a few years of no new made in USA product took a toll. That said the folks I considered Guild dealers in the New Hartford years all seem to have returned to the fold.

If I had to guess the reason why they carried them was because they were/are also a Fender dealer does they sold everything under FMIC’s ownership so they had Gretsch, Jackson/Charvel, Squier, Fender, and EVH (and briefly Ovation which seemed to be slow sellers.). I have played just about every era of Guild except for the Oxnard stuff and I been very curious how they stack up to the previous Tacoma, New Hartford, Westerly, Hoboken era’s.

First production NH Guilds were January 2009.

My local dealer said that the stocking requirements had evolved. He said during the NH years that his buy of Guilds did not change or contribute to the stocking requirements for other FMIC products. Indeed he noted it was a PITA to deal with FMIC because he had one contact for Fender and another for Gretsch and another for Guild and so on. The big Guild change he liked is that circa 2013 he could pick and choose from factories - New Hartford, Arco (Mexico), China, and Korea (Newark Street). He could pick two and still be a Guild dealer. Of course customers were confused but he just couldn't move the MIC guitars so not being required to stock them was huge for him.

I own an F50r NH and consider it a guitar of a very high quality. It is light and resonant and very pleasant to play. In my opinion it is a bit inspired, as an internal structure, by Ren Ferguson's Gibson SJ. In my opinion the Guild NH are the best produced after the Westerly era (indeed I venture to say that I prefer them to the Westerly)

Just to throw this out there - To give you an idea of pricing. This past monday I picked up a new hartford 2011 F-50 Bluegrass, Adirondack over EIR for $1375, built in Dtar pickup, rated Excellent condition from seller. I've yet to receive it.

There's currently a Westerly built 1993 DV52 in Houston up for $1200, Sitka over Rosewood. So with some negotiation you could probably get him down to $1000-1100 + shipping

yes. That search got me looking at other guilds. Then the history of guild. Then realizing they were built in CT. That guitar was the catalyst that began me looking.

I got one just like this from Craigslist several years ago. It reminded me of my '65 F 212--lightly built and very resonant. My other New Hartford
is my resonator that Gary covets. If the Oxnard Guilds are similarly built I would definitely consider one--if I could convince myself I actually needed another guitar...
