D50’s are such tastefully designed, beautiful guitars. If I could I would remove the Chesterfield logo and MOP inlay on the headstock and replace it with a simple decal, replace the gold tuners with nickel tuners, and remove the horsey pick guard. But that’s just me.

I think it's just about perfect just the way it is. I wouldn't want any less bling. But I like some fun stuff on my guitar too. That's a beauty.....

All you have to do is buy 50 yr old Guilds. Bling gone. Hell, I don't even like pickguards!

If you did that, it would look like a Martin. 😜

That D50 looks fine to me.
I have a maple Huss & Dalton MJ that is a fine guitar but apart from those 'Stingray' fret markers it looks decidedly plain to me - especially that rosette!

I like well done bling. I think the F-412/512 block and triangle fret markers are lovely.

And I totally agree with Frono on the Chesterfield & MOP, (even tho I think I only own one with it) ...actually that is my only gripe with the early GADS. Gorgeous wood binding...clumsy execution of the Chesterfield.

Edit: Oops, I have three....forgot about the JF and Songbird.

Oh c'mon, bring on the bling! Of course, I'm biased...actually, this is the one I gave to my son; I kept the plain Jane D-25M.

Just played Dylan's "Bob Dylan's Dream" on the '65 D-50 and brought tears to my eyes! I witnessed Dylan at an intimate concert at Rutgers University in 1964 and that experience always connects me with guitars that are from that time frame.

I usually prefer understated when it comes to most things, guitars included, but I like this kinda thing too:

(It's a Waterloo WL-K Kel Kroydon-style jobbie.)

"Bob Dylan's Dream" - for me - that is Bertastrasse 4 - in Lochergut - Zürich - spring 1971

I should bought the Jim Croce commemorative Martin when they had one or two at Elderly years ago!
