I drove to the Guild dealer in Ventura Ca and picked up the my new D-55! I had requested from Guitar 48, local Guild dealer, the most recent made and the people
at Guild Guitar in Oxnard and Rob the guitar dealer came through! I called the Córdoba corporate office in Santa Mónica to inquiry on the build date and indeed was told
final assembly was in the 2nd week of May.
I had a Tacoma 2006 brand new one and that one was so great. I sold it! Miss it, So since I have built up my Martin & Gibson guitarsenal
it was time to focus on the California made Guild's! What I really enjoyed was the quick factory to dealer time and then to my hands.
3 days it took! Shipped on Monday June 4 arrived to the t guitar shop today Wednesday June 6! Rob the owner called and there I was in an hour
fighting Los Ángeles traffic! 40% off list, real good price!
I have a 2018 Gibson Advanced Jumbo that arrived 2 weeks ago dropped shipped from the Gibson Bozeman factory. I can say that AJ compared to the D-55 are slightly different sounding guitars. While at the comparison, I pulled my other 2 most recent Martin's: Centennial and D-21 Special The 3 rosewoods all sound true to their built, heritage. Each having their own unique characteristics!
Initial D-55 impressions. The built is first class. I thoroughly inspected it. 100% pass. Now for the sound. It brought back memories of my 2006. Powerful projection with clean articulation with that classic Guild D-55 throating sound!! I can only imagine the sound as it opens up!
Overall a very pleasant New Guitar Day experience. Thank you Rob at Guitar 48 in Ventura California and Guild guitar on building a very powerful and enjoying guitar!
