Bought this baby at a garage sale for $5. Not sure what to call it, but its fun to play! Came with several songsheets, just put a sheet in place and pluck strings according to the dots. Looks Russian to me :? My granddaughter is having great fun with this :D

I love the dots. That would be a cool way for someone to learn scales etc on guitar too, get those sticky dots and put them under the strings...way cool. :D Steffan

It's a hammer dulcimer. I have a friend that bought one a couple of years ago.

Hmmm. I went for a zither because all the hammerd dulcimers I could remember (see pics here) had some kind of nut and bridge arrangement, in the middle of the trapezoid. Does that make sense? I'm not sure I could describe the picture even with 1000 words.

You know, of course, that no one can play the zither. No humans, anyway. The zither was invented to identify aliens among us. They are the only ones with multiple appendages and double-jounted tentacles who can actual make music with one of those things. True story.
