Gibson J-40 (70's model?)

If it has the "top-loading" bridge... stay away from it!

Otherwise... a great quality acoustic.
I prefer J-40's to the J-45's.

Just me.

I currently play a '81 Alvarez-Yairi DY-45... stellar instrument!

By "top loading" I assume you mean no bridge pins. Why is that? Is there a history of bridge detachment or the like on this particular model or an issue in general?

I took it to mean the bridge with metal adjustment screws that Gibson used for a while. As far as I know, no one likes them
