The Ampeg Portaflexes (also called fliptops) are really cool, Mark. I don't know if you ever saw the thread with pics of mine--a pretty rare B-18X. Here's another pic.

The Ampeg B-15N is one of those "must have" amps for recording studios, along with a Fender Deluxe, a Marshall stack and a Vox AC-30. Bass players in countless recordings have played through B-15s. If I'm not mistaken the SB-12 is a smaller version. $300 is a really great price if the amp is serviced. Guitar sounds great through them as well.

Thanks, jp. I'm up to knowing a little more than nothing about amps now. :D
I might give this one some consideration. I don't have a good bass amp.

The later model SB-12's used 6L6's. The earlier models came with 7868 power tubes (and possibly 7591's). Not sure what year that one is. Either way it's a steal at $300. I know it's supposed to be for a bass but I own one - w/7868's - and it's the best sounding guitar amp I own.
