Hey, just going through some things in the basement & came across a few interesting (I think are interesting) finds. Here are a couple (sorry for the pic quality)....

What model are the bottom two pickguards on the right for?

Hi hideglue,

Those pickguards are for the George Barnes Models.

Vintage Decal (What Model?)

Those were intended for the use on maple veneered pegheads after 1965 but not too many of those were made. The most common ones are the 6-on-a-side pegheads on S-50s and S-100s and the Thunderbirds with the traditional Guild pegheads. See example of S-50 on page 157 of the Guild Guitar Book.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

What are those two solidbody carcases please ?

As Hans posted, of course. But also, if your not entirely familiar with the Crossroad line: they're not actual solidbodies. Bound, maple top over a routed out mahogany body.......with lead weights inside.

Ok, balance against the weight of the neck. That makes sense.

I couldn't see it just to make it feel "Beefy"!!

Digging Deeper...

Smaller humbucker bezels. But which pickups were they?

Likely the smaller (mini) humbuckers they first used. That's what should be on my '64 Starfire, but I haven't heard anything back from the previous owner on finding them....so I've gone with a DeArmond-ish pickup from GFS. Perfect fit covering the old routes, but different mounting screw locations.

One of those Crossroads bodies is calling out for a tele neck, a floating bridge, and a Bigsby....

:p

I see a masterpiece in the making. Could we get some more detailed pics of the figure on the tops.

Maybe a subtle Antique Sunburst for the top.

Hans asks......

I need something to fit a couple of Supro re-issue p/u's to.
Wouldn't do that to a Crossroads body.

I think I'll stick with my original plan and fashion a body from a nice piece of N.Z. native timber.
