A different version of this song popped up in my ‘Tube feed (to be discussed later.) That led to me seeing this more original version with a Guild F-55, I believe.

And, the version that started it tonight; without a Guild. Talk about ignorance is bliss! You know they had no clue what the song was about.

That was awesome (the second one, I mean).

Clearly, they had no earthly idea what they were singing about (or did they?).

Lawrence could twist a pretty mean fatty.

And a 1 and a 2!

It's got Jesus in it so it must be wholesome!

The original one makes me think how those two would never make it today because they don't look like video stars.

Dang, I was just singing that song yesterday! And it has been a long while since I sang that. Brewer and Shipley, good trivia question. And sorry, I don't see any videos...

It's a browser issue. Try logging in with Chrome.
In the meantime, you want subversive? I'll give you subversive:

Yep that's little Opie Taylor cooking up something with his toy chemistry set in 1965's Village of the Giants.
He calls it "Goo".
And it turns unsuspecting teenage juvenile delinquents into giants.
Who grow right out of their clothes:

For a while, anyway.
Some how she manages to find a bikini top.

This was unquestionably a typical 1960's naked metaphor for a bad LSD trip.

That actual Guild from the video Acorn Posted was for sale recently on Reverb if I am not mistaken. I believe it was an F50R.

Yes, you can see back bracing.
G-shield on that kind of headstock rules out anything else.
Well, excepting the inevitable "one-of-a-kind" surprise, anyway.

One of my most favorite songs ever. I wanted it to be the ring tone on my cell phone but alas, I'm too prehistoric to figure out how to do that. Plus, my old flip phone probably couldn't handle it anyway.

It don't handle rotary dial either.

Why do I do this - now I can't get that song out of my head. So, I had to go to my music room and print it out.

I like the chord progression in the chorus, key of C it's got a strange (to me) D9 in it. Love it!

Thanks for re-igniting () some memories.

Personally, I can think of a lot better places to be one toke over the line, other than downtown in a railway station.

It's a 1969 F-50 in maple. https://reverb.com/item/6472181-guild-f-50-1969

In the video Chris posted you can see a few times the sides of the guitar and the sides of the headstock with very light wood, it's a maple F-50 as also seen here in a 1978 picture:

But Michael Brewer had a rosewood F-50R:

Looks like Brewer removed the pickguard shortly after:

Sorry Chris for hijacking your thread...

Oh that's funny, when I went to reply you must have been editing out your comment about a new monitor, which I do in fact have.
BUT in fact I was so focused on looking in the soundhole that I completely ignored looking at the body, and didn't watch the whole thing in any case because honestly I never did like that song.
So-o-o... I think now that what I thought was the line of back bracing visible from about 08 sec to 14 sec must be the shadow from the mic stand.
Thanks for the "save".
Have we told you how much we miss you lately?
