I have a Supro Martinique reissue, the non-vibrato version, and like it a lot. Well made, sounds good, plays nice and stays in tune. I haven't tried the Dual Tone reissue but I do own an original. It's a pretty wild guitar when plugged into a worked-up amp: the pickups are microphonic and the neck (which is semi-hollow) tactiley & audibly resonates, driving the pickups even more. The Martinique is much better behaved, so I suspect the reissue Dual Tone is too. :)

I have a 1959/60 Supro Silverburst Dual Tone if anyone (else) needs a 5lb 3/4 scale guitar that sounds out of this world for slide...

Originally I was posting to comment on the "stupid deal" and how somehow said price for same jumped from $360 ish to 760 ish in way too short a period of time.

Conversely, and maybe not coincidentally, the price of a NAPA 1334 oil filter for Subaru was $3.65 when I started buying them at the beginning of this time period, and now it is a mind boggling $8.50!

I'd say wth happened, but it's still happening as we speak...

The link is showing me a purple road worn Tele for $750, btw.

The link is to the current SDOTD, which changes daily (or hourly when do their stupid deal of the hour).
Yeah, I don't see a Supro.

Most stupid deals are stupid deals. Most people who go for them are getting things they weren't shopping for.

If you were actually shopping around for that Supro or something like it, it might have made sense to jump at it. If not, it would have been a wasteful what-did-I-get-this-for impulse buy.

Sorry folks. I guess I should have known that because the deal changes daily (or hourly as Chris mentioned) the link would as well. My bad. I didn't buy it. I was just interested if anybody had any thoughts on the Supro. It just kinda has "the look" at least to my eyes. But, since probably 95% of my playing time is acoustic I should stop looking at that stuff anyway.

They've had good deals on decent stuff from time to time. Like Hercules stands. Just depends what you need or want on the day.

In favor of the reissue Supros, and their other models too, the pickups were designed by a fellow named Ken Calvet, who makes Valco pickup repros & other designs under the name Roadhouse Pickups. He's done a great job of figuring out what makes the Valco designs tick and then reproducing their unique sound.
