Hi all,
I am new to this forum and new to Guild guitars. No kidding, I have been looking for one of these for 15 years or so, I just couldn’t locate one in good shape, especially on the island of Okinawa. I have recently travelled to mainland Japan and was able to locate one from 1991 in Hiroshima. It is in mint condition. I couldn’t believe my luck. I am loving this

Welcome JumboDoug to a great forum. Impressive bunch of folks here who are willing to answer questions and help. They love guitars - period - with Guilds always holding the trump cards.
A stunning guitar and congratulations on finding such an immaculate JF-30.
Guild gets my vote for their awesome Maples. Glad you are enjoying it.

Hi Doug, welcome aboard!
It's been about 15 years since Guild stopped making them!
Several JF30 fans here.
How did you fall in love enough to embark on a 15-year search in the first place?

Looks to be in pretty great shape!
Allow me to highlight a couple of the "best ones":

Hey Doug welcome! What a gorgeous Guild you found. Looks like it just came out of the showroom. That fancy maple just shimmers. I hope it sounds as good as it looks.

Welcome to the forum, Doug! Man, that is a gorgeous JF30! Major congrats! Gotta love a Guild jumbo! My first Guild was a burst JF30-12 made in Corona, also in near mint condition. It was on craigslist in Dana Point and I drove 700 miles to pick it up. (Well, OK, I was going to SoCal anyway, so it was just a little side trip. :eek:nthego:) Fabulous guitar!

I also lived in Japan when my wife took a sabbatical at the Tokyo Institute of Technology in Ookayama. We had a great time there!

You do any recording? Would love to hear that jumbo archback maple!

I got mine last year just after Xmas. I traded my 2014 Gibson LP Traditional Pro II for it. Mine is #93 and is the first year of issue. I lived in Yokosuka for 2 years when I was in the USN. I played one in Carter's Vintage and then I found one and I pounced. I bought rosewood pins for mine.

Thank you for all the comments and kind words. My father had. D-25 M years ago that I loved. Then in 1991 oddly enough, I lived in Denver the there was a girl who had a JF-30 that I loved.

Yup, JF-30s can be incredibly good guitars. Just had mine out for a spin yesterday - it's a '94, with highly figured maple throughout & very nice spruce as well. Guild seemed to have a top notch supply of wood in the '90s.

Congrats & enjoy!

Congrats on scoring a gorgeous guitar!! Welcome to the forum!
I like the JF30 so much, I have 2 of them, a black 03 and a blonde ‘92.
I have a K&K pure mini pickup in the black one, and an LR Baggs Anthem in the blonde.
Great workhorse guitars, and built like tanks!
Good luck with yours and play it in good health!

More JF-30 love concentrated here than most other places put together ;-))

Loved the girl who had a JF-30?

We think we own these guitars, but maybe we're the ones being played...

I once had a girl
Or should I say she once had me
She showed me her Guild
Isn't it good Westerly wood?
