StewMac takes a lot of grief by some amateur luthier groups for the cost of their tools. And sometimes they deserve it. But they do offer many tools which are indispensable for the job at hand.
Then, there’s this. If I took my guitar to a luthier and saw them using it, I’d turn around and walk out the door.

Also, the circuit board holder is 4 bucks cheaper at American Science and Surplus.

If I did 100 guitars a day my fingers would be shredded! (Of course I guess I might have calluses too.) Looks like it speeds up the job. Time is money. I'd buy one if I was a guitar tech!

Yep. Counterproductive, though, for folks who change strings as seldom as they can get away with. Like me! :)

Next they'll be offering "pre-stretched" strings...

That may not be a stretch.

At first I thought you were pullin' my leg, but now that you mention it, there's gotta be a market for used strings for all those "relic'd" guitars out there, too.
I mean, who'd wanna degrade all that mojo with shiny bright new strings?
