Thread: Bomb Cyclone = No Power

    Bomb Cyclone = No Power

Our little coastal town was impacted by a major wind and rain storm last night. Power is out, and may be so for 3-4 days. I might have to purée my white peaches by hand tonight to make our bellini’s...oh the humanity!

Have a friend who has the "Generac" brand. Certainly, peace of mind.
Ice storm - several years ago - took our area's electricity for 13 days (my area) and fun first couple days but, after that, made it all the clearer, "The Good Old Days" had some flaws.

GROT posted that pic before saying there is a diesel generator inside that cabi..... now - is that for real somewhere??? - the VeeFil page page shows no such option . . .

That would be something on certain websites if it was true.

Yes there is and it is.
I lifted it from this thread in a little shameless cross-thread pollination:

GJMalcyon ID'd it in post #40 there.

The details are here and it's fascinating.

    Edit:
Ah, I see Ralf posted while I was still composing.
To be fair, that one's a custom-built generator/charger not actually manufactured by Veefil, and in fact if all one wants to do is power one's home one doesn't really need the EV charger "front-end".
I posted it primarily for humor value.

Golfing buddy just installed a Generac. He has natural gas, so his generator should provide 19 KWs, and 22 if he had propane. He's older, and having lived through Hurricane Ivan, he doesn't think he could deal with portable generators.

I'm tempted myself, and they have come down a lot in price.

In the same boat. We might be out until Sat. Got the generator running now. I’m a bit of a prepper so we’re good to go. All my kids friends say they’re coming here for the zombie apocalypse. Plenty of booze and Mountain House to go around...

Ooh! Mountain House! The spicy mac and cheese is my favorite.
