just lucked into a fantastic old 1972 S90 but any chance the gold speed knobs that were on it are original or would it definitely have had G / shield knobs on it when new? seen quite a few with various different knobs (inc black and gold speed knobs) but have those instruments just been liberated of their original knobs in the past to replace missing knobs on more upmarket instruments perhaps?

Here’s my ‘71 (assuming Piratebucket doesn’t mess with it.)

If you can’t see, yes, they are G shield witch hat type.

And you can see from this ‘73 catalog, that they were still using them. No speed knobs till the 80s, and then they would be dimpled at the top.

thanks for the replies, yeah, that's what i thought. interesting though, my one has a standard guild stop tail and muller bridge on it not that crazy (but cool) looking one on yours. i've seen those on S50s, didn't know they were on some S90s as well, though yours is a couple of years older than mine so i guess they changed over early 70s? very nice looking guitar you have there.

yeah, they only used the older S-50 all-in-one bridge for the first year, then switched to the S-100 stoptail.
