We are often aghast at modifications folks make. You would think if the owner actually cared about the instrument they would have done exactly that.

    Was this a $100 guitar or a $500 or...

This is what happens to us when we spend too much time outside in the summer. A little Bondo and some red Krylon and no one would know....

Sure you can. As we said, sanding, sharpie, bondo, or krylon. Maybe all four! That guitar could be “old El Camino on blocks in the front yard” good in no time!

I for one think it takes a great deal of testicular fortitude to dive into a project like this.. and in the end he achieved his goal of providing more fret access.. Who am I to argue :) Now he just needs to route in a third pick up and his work is done..
Seriously though this guy should be punched in the mouth...

On the other hand you might consider he's improving the value of the not-modified examples . . .
First good guitar - GUILD Duane Eddy 400 - I was 3rd owner - still regret letting it go 25 years ago - used to have Artist Award and Starfire - no regrets here.
    Present guitars - all bought new - F50R 1975 - F512 1977 - F212CSB 1979 - OM-240CE 2018 - Schecter Startocaster
    Bought secondhand - B30SB fretless - RED Songbird - White Songbird - S-60D - D-125 - Gibson 3/4-size acoustic 1957 - Carmelo Gonzales nylon string - old Levin Lute

I would be worried about splinters interrupting one of my incendiary solos!

It would be interesting to see other examples of his handy work.
