Can any of the experts on this board recommend a replacement case that would fit my 30-year old Guild X-160 Savoy? This has a 16.75 inch lower bout, a 12 inch upper bout, a body length of 21.5 inches and an overall length of 42.25 inches. The body thickness is 2.5 inches. My old case has finally given up as the bottom fell out of it a few days ago and it looks non-repairable.

Any suggestions would be welcome. So far I have narrowed it down to a Gretsch G5191 case but the fit isn't perfect by any means as these are designed for a 17 inch lower bout and a 3 inch body thickness.

Does anybody know of a custom case-maker for vintage guitars that is not too expensive?

I would look at the Guild case for X175/CE100 that they sell in the Guild Store. Should be fine with that.

I'm using a the case for the NS CE-100D for my '89 X-160. Fits perfectly. The only problem is that they are no longer available from the Guild store now that the CE-100 is discontinued. The X-175 case is a little too big.

I put my X-170 in my NS Starfire V case. It's too shallow so it's not possible to close the lid.

Thanks to all for the suggestions so far and please keep them coming. However, I forgot to mention in my original post that I am located in England and we don't have a Guild store in the UK.

Okay, I just put my X-170 into a Gretsch case for a Country Club/6122-58/6122-59. The lower bout width fits fine as does, the body depth and the headstock area (lots of room there!). However the upper bout fits loosely because the Guild body is a shorter and little narrower than the Gretsch. However, it does fit and with a couple of polishing clothes stuffed on the bass-side upper bout, it should be fine. The Gretsch case is TKL No. A2324TL.

Don't forget that, if it turns out it's now impossible to get the case from Guild, you could always buy the cheapest used NS CE-100 you can find, keep the case and put it back on the market for sale as a caseless guitar.
