Frono, seeing that thread title made me suddenly wonder the reasoning behind your screen name. Do you mind sharing?

Jeff I'm surprised at you.
Even I knew that when I joined.

You have an answer :)

Zappa's "Cheepnis". Depending on the performance/recording sometimes it is the name of The Giant Poodle but sometimes it is the name of the planet that The Giant Poodle comes from. Also depending upon your own accent and how good your ears are Frunobulax might be a better spelling.

Its a very large poodle dog. I take it you are not a Frank Zappa fan. My 40th Anniversary 5 CD Zappa In New York set just got to the house to day. I know what I am doing after work other than strum.

Go to the shelter.

Ah, thanks! Not really a Zappa person - sorry!

walrus

I thought I recommended this to you a long time ago, trust me on this one, I'm pretty darn sure you'll like it, but the rest of the album is "different":|
"Sleep Dirt" (solo's played on a Martin OOO):

"Big Swifty" from Waka Jawaka (small jazz band sound)

Yeah that's huge but I wanted you to be able to see the credits.
It's up on YouTube but only 1 video allowed per post.
Note the presence of George Duke, Sal Marquez, and Ainsley Dunbar.
These are my top 2 favorite Zappa cuts, both instrumentals.
No comedy.

Thanks, Al, enjoyed it! I know he's a great guitarist, just not into his music. I have to say, "Big Swifty" sounds like John McLaughlin in parts!

"Swifty" or "Sleep Dirt"?
Actually thought you would have liked "Sleep Dirt" the best (just the 2 guitars and that's the one I'd think might have sounded like McLaughlin in parts, but truthfully haven't listened to it in several years, "Big Swifty" either, for that matter...so I may be forgetting something. I just remember I was hooked from the opening bass line, and the closing credenza.)
