Hi all,

I have an F-20 with the serial number AG 3484. The paper label is missing. On the Guild serial number chart, F-20s from 1969 go up to AG 2822. Then all guitars from 1970 start at 46696.

Does anyone know if this is a 1969 or a 1970, and if it was built in Westerly or Hoboken? I assume Westerly even if it's 1969, but there seems to have been some overlap according to some other threads I've read. Thanks!

My guess would be late 1969.

I'd sure like to play one of those, and I keep blowing my chances to get one over these other bigger guitars...

Is that a short scale F-20?

Thanks, yes, it's short scale - really comfortable playing guitar.

It is 100% a 1970 model. They didn't switch back over to the number only serial numbers until sometime midway through 1970 so the beginning of 1970 still used the two letter and 4 digit serial number type. With the last 1969 model being listed as AG-2822, That means that your guitar with a serial number of AG-3484 was made during the year 1970 before the switch of serial number types. Hope this info helps!

And just to make sure this one got answered, yes there was "overlap" of production but as a '70 yes 100% it's a Westerly, all production was moved to Westerly by '69, just not sure exactly when in '69..
