Thanks for posting that Brad! It amazes me what some people can do with "just" a guitar.

That song brings me back to boot camp 47 years ago right now; of course that's the song they used for our marching drills. July 4, 1972 I was in only my 3rd week of US Navy boot camp in Great Lakes, IL.

Also, today would have been my Dad's 98th birthday. He made it home from WWII after landing at Normandy and marching right on into Germany. Actually, he drove a gasoline supply truck.

Red Ball Express?
Hardly anybody ever gives the logistics guys the credit they deserve, except the guys who got the stuff they needed to use...and supply trucks were BIG targets for planes, while Germany could still get any in the air, anyway.
Not necessarily the comparatively "cushy" job some folks might imagine.

Am I correct in recalling those got about the same targeting priority as officers, not to mention the weight if you were carrying the encryption gear?

On TOP of your combat load.

"Thank you for your service" doesn't seem to cover it.
"I am humbled" gets closer.

He told me his gas supply truck had a 50 cal machine gun mounted on the roof, and an opening so you could stand on the seat and fire the gun. I'm sure they were valuable targets as they hauled the petrol to the front so the rest of the vehicles could keep advancing.

I always thought an officer was more points, but you never seen to many officers without tucked collars.

On the Ranger (and all other aircraft carriers) the enlisted men stayed at sea while the officers flew off into hostile territory.

Still, would rather lug the radio, then drive a gasoline truck.
