Wandering on the internet, I found this old link to the Guild Nashville Custom Shop. Several photos, but none more interesting than this head stock!

***EDIT- posted before!***

What were they smoking the day they came up with that design?!
It's a little-known internet myth that this is what Mark Dronge told Evan Ellis he saw, the single time he took LSD:
All the chesterfields and G-shields were melting, just like Dali's watches:

The other version of the myth is that Evan Ellis was having a flashback that day.

So, after reading the old link, it's not really a Guild, it is an employee project guitar! Love the body; hate the headstock.

I didn't say I didn't like it -- just wondered what they were smoking!

As a one-off, I like it for its sheer oddball-ness.

I often gravitate towards the homemade, the home-modified, the home-defaced, etc. (That one with all the names and dates and polka-dots carved into the top brought a smile to my lips!)

I'm not against one-off's and mods, in fact I bought one; my DV-52 was modified by someone prior to consigning it to a pawnshop. They replaced the MOP dots with Paua Abalone blocks. I snatched it off ebay about '02.

As is often the case, it seems I am once again in the minority. I like the headstock, ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Richard my friend.... we are in alarming agreement!! Hey Dreadnut...... what is it that you don't like about the headstock? it's not a guild so it can be anything it wants and why not that unique little cutout with the spoof of guild on the headstock? Especially with that bevel that we have on the high end guitars? Doing that little cutout had to be a seriously labor intensive endeavor!! So, if you know it's not a Guild but a one of, what would you have the headstock be?

I'm curious......

I dunno...I just don't like the cutout or the inlay...and I keep looking for the "G" to go along with the "uild."

But as stated, I love the body style.

A headstock that doubles as a bottle opener? You may be on to something here!
