Package arrived today from Gary. Everything he said in his blog about this '85 D46 is true. PRISTINE! In fact, it's just ducky!Have only spent an hour playing it, but it's a great guitar (and I haven't even put on my preferred string set) !!

More info to follow in a few days; perhaps even a sound bite or two.

Congrats to both of you!

I love the Studio 24. Could you post a photo?

Thanks Bob, that's a beauty, you could send it to me for a thorough inspection!

That's the way I like 'em! Gotta love that ebony fretboard! A killer dread!

Wow, Bob!! I'm purdy darned jealous right now. Regardless of my "no more dreads" policy currently, that one would make me reconsider a LOT of things!! CONGRATS, amigo!! :encouragement:

Only produced for one year ('86) during the Gruhn Era. Looked for years, but thought I'd never see one. Had only seen pics of Grot's, a sunburst in Canada, and one in the UK that was up for sale on eBay for a while (at a ridiculous price). Had the one I found (pure luck) fitted with a K&K dual-source passive pickup system (K&K Double helix soundhole pickup & undersaddle pure mini transducers). Kim Walker told me in an e mail that the figure estimating that only 30 of them were produced is probably high since they had such problems bending the maple sides to a "Starfire" configuration. Mine is #12. Gig with this regularly. "Made to be played", eh?
