    Compared with Fenders, Ampegs tend to have more mids than blackfaces/silverfaces but more headroom than tweeds. Warmer & smoother high end from the Ampegs too. An Ampeg Jet and a brown Princeton don't sound that far apart…faced with a choice I'd take the Jet. Much the same goes for the 6V6 version of the Reverberocket and a black/silver Princeton Reverb. (I much prefer the non-reverb black/silver Princeton, a minority position.)
