Just because.

I have to say - I like this better than the X500s I had and I'm not sure why. This guitar has an understated elegance that appeals to me. I dig it.

Me too. So many Guilds I'd love to own ... this one is at the top of the list.

Beautiful, congrats! I'm so used to looking at Starfires that the body on the X-175 seems Grand Canyon deep in comparison.

This from the man who eschewed the Nightbird I because it wasn’t bling-y enough. (And thank you for that!)

The X175 has a bound fretboard with block inlays, though, which are the epitome of class. :encouragement:

Really, though, The NBI also had a very shallow neck that I didn't much like. I've learned that while I still greatly prefer a 1 11/16" or wider neck (and the NB1 is just over 1 11/16"), I can deal with 1 5/8" so long as the neck is deep enough. The NBI has one of the shallowest necks I've measured on a Guild electric at .73" at the nut (which is shallower than all the '80s shredders I've had), while the X175 measures .79" at the nut.

Which is one of the things I love about it.

That's the way I feel about my 1968 CE-100DDP.

I was looking for a nice X-175 when I found my X-170T. Never been much of a blingy guitar guy. The shallower body, like my Gretsch Chet's, clinched the deal (my surgically repaired spine sometimes doesn't appreciate the way my right arm has to cantilever out with a thicker body).

Rich Peterson and I feel the same way about the Guild Custom Shop Finesse....understated elegance! A dred pushing the definition of other high end Guild dreds such as the DV 72/73.
