Here's my "new" 1963 Guild A-500 B. Newly strung with Thomastik George Benson roundwound mediums. Practically plays itself. Check out the pic of the peghead. Someone stuck a cigarette under the string and must have forgot about it.

Note the engraved harp. In 1963 Guild began to supply cast harps to its high end models.

Note the ciggy burn on the left side of the peghead. Somehow I like it there.

So am I. What I like about archtops is that they have the capability of crossing over from jazz and blues to folk, though the folk genre takes some adapting the tone of the guitar, and depends on the type of strings and how you play.

Big blonde sister to my 350. Don’t you love the Kolbs? Smooth and solid feeling.
How does it compare with your AA?

They're very similar, but the A-500 is better sounding acoustically, especially because it has new Thomastik Geo. Benson GR112s on her. I like the neck and the setup...very easily to fret and finger. It will be easier to practice jazz and blues on it. Nice junky sound. Can't complain about the AA's bass response though...it's awesome. Also the neck is fast as well. The SB is really beautiful. As you say, the Kolbs are like buttah.

Now you're talking! A terrific addition to your already awesome archtop collection. How's the acoustic sound?
Play it in good health!

Oh, and George Beson is one of my favorite French guitarists :>)
