Hey kids, don't mean to yank you around but I was admitted to the hospital yesterday with extreme shortness of breath again. Zero stamina, and I can't breathe well when lying down, so sleep is also at a premium. The procedures I had done a couple days ago worked as planned, but I was still having a hard time catching my breath, so here I am again. I was doing the right stuff but still gaining fluid weight, so they're looking to get me on a proper and manageable regimen before I return home. My 2 personal nurses (Mrs. Dread, and my daughter) insisted that my cardiologist needs to have a better plan than "let's try this now let's try that."

Well poop. I hope they figure something out and sent you home stable and improved. Listen to all of your nurses. They know things that doctors don't.

I agree with your nurses - you are not a lab rat! For the two big surgeries I had over the last few years, I had to (with my wife, who is an actual nurse) advocate for myself - sometimes aggressively - good advice for you , too!

Thinking of you - get better!

+1 to what Walrus said, Dread. I pray for clarity with this doctor, wisdom and of course healing fully.

This whole ordeal must be really frustrating for you. I get the sense you're a really strong guy emotionally though so stay the course. Good thoughts sent your way!!

My 2 personal nurses (Mrs. Dread, and my daughter) insisted that my cardiologist needs to have a better plan than "let's try this now let's try that."

Only for the sake of trying to ease some tension with insight, I kind of get the "experimental" approach because there are so many variables involved that vary according to any one person's unique physiology.
I suspect they are running down a list of "most successful " tactic to the less effective approaches by percentage.
Having said that, I can also say that my gout was misdiagnosed by the same physician 3 times (I simply didn't fit the typical gout sufferer's profile) before his RN finally sent me to a bone specialist on the occasion of the worst flare-up I'd ever experienced.
(The MD was on vacation that day).
On the follow-up visit nothing was said about the importance of diet in controlling it, I was only offered an NSAID for maintenance.
I had to go do my own research to learn about the disease and I'm finding more and more evidence that doctors have grown to expect this from patients in the age of the internet and online medical advice sites.
Still, having advocates can only help, I think, and like many others here my prayers are with you.

So please, keep in touch with us. Know that we will be responding to you with prayers, best wishes and our posts.

Thanks all; yeah my wife and daughter are both RN's so we've got that going for us.

After I'm back into the swing of things I shall endeavor to record a couple songs on the ol' D-25M so I can post them here.

Well, they got you where they can treat you and with the reclining breathing problem and just breathing in general sounds like maybe a touch of congestive heart failure, which can affect cardiac function and breathing so..... be a good patient and let us know what's going on, amigo. We're all concerned, so.... keep us posted. Check in as much as possible...... :encouragement:

Best of luck with this. Sometimes it does take a few times through to find and fix a problem.
