Honestly, my first impression upon playing it was, "Wow - they really did a great job with the Newark Street copy!"

I still can't get over how bad the tuners are.

There's some wear on the fretboard and the frets, but it's not too bad given its age.

Beautiful cherry SF III. The only thing I dislike more than those tuning keys is the volute. I couldn't get used to it.

Beautiful cherry SF III. The only thing I dislike more than those tuning keys is the volute. I couldn't get used to it.

Volute doesn't bother me at all. Those tuners, though... They're embarrassingly bad.

I decided to teach the tuners a lesson.
Gonna try to smooth 'em up with some emery cloth or do you think they've just got such lousy tolerances it ain't worth the effort?
Or were you just in the mood to perform a tuner dissection?

I cleaned them and put some silicon lube on the critical points then worked it in with some vigerous tuner spinning (while still off the guitar). They're MUCH better now.
