So y'all are saying that the term "modern language" is somewhat of an oxymoron?

I remember that old Brit tv series called "The Good Life" where Penelope Keith is doing the crossword puzzle next to husband (Paul Eddington) and she asks, "Is hobbledehoy hyphenated?" And he replies..... "In several places, I think."

It was such a funny line, but come to find out.... it's all one word.....

I practice my offensive grammar daily. Those who don't repeat the past are doomed to forget it.
Al, you win the prize on this one...... LMFAO!!!

I've sold COBOL coding sheets, punch cards, an early acoustic modem, and a few other gems on eBay. People collect the stuff, whereas I just want to forget about it...

Hmmm…I may be sitting on a goldmine here. ;) PROCEDURE DIVISION FTW!

(Anyone wanna buy an AmigaOS Modula-2 compiler? :abnormal: )

Saw another one of my favorites sprawled across the morning news screen, text from a viewer:
"I could of gone skiing"
Woulda, coulda shoulda:
That's would have could have should have...

I went and my window to shouted as loud as I was able and:
"I'm mad to hell to I'm not going and take this anymore!"

One of my favorites: Expecially. There is no "x" in especially.

Also people say "I could care less," when they really mean "I couldn't care less."

I will never forget one of my first "tech support/saves" calls with AOL back in the day.

"Hey Joe, where you from?"
"I am from Oregin".
"Oregone, nice!"
"Boy, it is pronounced Oregin, not Oregone. Oregin ain't going anywhere."
"ah, thanks."

I have been known to use the former deliberately. It means the issue is so insignificant that I have not even invested the time/effort to figure out how much I care or don't. That can be different from I have thought about it and I flat out don't care.
