Wanna Buy One of David Gilmour's Guitars?

David Gilmour is auctioning more than 120 guitars through Christie's.

The Rolling Stone Q&A with him is here.

He is selling the Martin 12-string that he used to write "Wish You Were Here". No mention of Guilds.

estimates are crazy low! the black strat at $150,00? should bring at least 3 million.

others seem very low as well.

It feels like Gilmour not owning the Black Strat anymore would be a cataclysmic change in the guitar world. Seems like something really bad would happen, like cars not having tires anymore or trees not having trunks.

I find it odd to feel so thrown off by it not being his anymore!

It's been modded a bit. New pickups (Duncans, I think), non-original neck. It had an extra toggle switch at one point for the neck/bridge pickup combo.

50‘000 for the 55 Les Paul would be a steal. He played the Brick In The Wall solo on that!

As someone who was not influenced by Pink Floyd to any extent, I find the numbers being bandied about somewhat amusing. If I had that kind of money, I certainly would not be spending it on any of Gilmour's guitars but then I am having a hard time imagining any guitar that I'd pay five figures for. ;-)

i believe Garcia’s guitar is $2 million and that Gilmours black strat would easilly go for double or more
