    D 55 question

A guy over at AGF bought a D 55 with a Guild Shield sticker with no location city. He wanted to know where and approximately when it was made.

I believe the brand new ones by Cordoba, built in Oxnard, only say "California" instead of Oxnard.
If there's a wood plate over the end of the heelblock with a laser etched s/n, that's another indicator.
Yeah, ok, see post #11 here:

"When" would be sometime this year, this is first year for Oxnard D55's.

But it has gold open gear Gotoh tuners ... of course they may have been retro fitted but if not, wouldn't that make it a New Hartford guitar?

Those didn't have G-shields IIRC, but yeah that's right, they only said USA for a short while there.
    In fact Br1ck's got a '71 D35 himself, and I see you've got a '71 D40.
Think those just show oak leaf wreaths, right?
    Yeah, like this:

Think those were actually a little later than '71, but that's not the point here.
(and I guess that's a laurel wreath, to boot)

New Hartfords showed New Hartford on label.
Besides which Guild website shows Gotoh Se700 open gear tuners for D55.

My 70 D 35 has a Hoboken label though it is a Westerly built guitar.

That is a known occurrence. They used the old labels until they ran out.
