We have many requests for our services, and many volunteer singers, but few music leaders.

What I really need is people who can stand in there and lead the singing for an hour once a month.

I reached out to two of my guitar-playing friends in the last couple days whom I know are capable of leading, and they both jumped on the bus!

So, we're adding 2 more facilities to our calendar in January. That brings us to 22 different facilities!

I never imagined how busy I could be in retirement.

Quite frankly, it's our 25 or so volunteers that make this happen week after week. It's amazing to see.

If you've ever tried recruiting people to do volunteer work, even for one event, you know it can be frustrating.

In this case, I send out the schedule and our volunteers always show up at 20 different facilities every month, some are even going twice a week.

How did this get started?

I have some time and a early teen daughter who can sing...if only I could play!

Might be a good life lesson intro for her, (and I), to replicate locally.

I founded Eldermusic, Inc. in 2003 when we started bringing music to my old mentor who had moved into an Alzheimer's care facility. I applied for and obtained 501(c)(3)non-profit status in 2012.

I would love to have a chapter established elsewhere; where are you located?
