I've posted it before, and I thought it was a '65 from a serial number decoder. I'm thinking perhaps not. '65s serial numbers seem to begin with an EK and seem to have a volute at the neck/headstock. Obviously the guitar has been refinished, and for some unknown reason, somebody destroyed part of the sticker in the F-hole. Tuners are replacements, I fabbed up the pick guard myself. I have the Guild stepped pickguard.

Anyhow, here's some pics.

HI onerail, I think you're right about '65, but not certain.
The way s/n's are presented on Guild's site can be confusing.
I think what's really going on is that the last number for '64 is probably 38636 as shown.
I think your guitar was then produced during the period in '65 before the new s/n system with alpha prefixes was introduced.
Those weren't always introduced at the beginning of a calendar year, and we've seen lots of example of s/n's becoming "invisible" because they were issued in a "changeover" year, where the last s/n of the old sequence doesn't appear, only the last number of that year's new sequence..
I think maybe Hans missed your reply to his question back in your first thread about it, but if you send him an email at his address I'm absolutely certain he can confirm for sure.

Hope that helps!

Thanks, I found another '65 on Reverb with a 40XXX serial number and no volute at the headstock, so I'm feeling more confident about claiming it's a '65.

I rescued a '64 that could be a slightly darker twin to yours. Don't recall the serial number off the top of my head. Those all mahogany models really have a nice resonance to them don't they?

not sure what the confusion is on the serial number. it is a 1965 indeed. (38637 thru 46606)

1965 had both the “old” and “new” (at the time) serial numbering. i have a volute on a 1966 Jetstar and no volute on a 1965 Jetstar, so that could go either way.

that thing is looking pretty nice.
