What height do you guys have at the 12th fret (those who know). The only thing I'm unhappy with about my neck reset on my F50 is the action being a bit high in my opinion. I didnt measure it, but it's higher than my Larrivee 12 string for sure.

What measurements is that rule, guitarjesus? I see 32nds on right but isthat 20ths on left. As a hobby metalist, do not remember seeing 20ths? Have 8ths, 16ths, 32nds, 64ths, and 10ths. Or is it "mm" on left?

My D55 has the lowest action at .080 on the low E
Most of my guitars, including the F55e, are at .090 on the low E

The only published action specs I ever saw from Guild were in the late '90's in Guild Gallery #1 and on the website until mid-New Hartford period, and they were given in 64ths:
5-6/64ths on bass E at 12th fret and 4-5/64ths on treble E 12th fret.
So if that's 3/32 I see on the rule, it's spot on. (EDIT: I just realized that's Brucebubs' guitar, but it's the correct way to measure action)
A lot of folks think that's "high" but all of mine came that way and I find it to be a perfect balance for no buzzing on hard strumming and ease of playing scales, and hammer-on/offs, and bends and bar chords.
Bear in mind action's EASILY adjusted by lowering the saddle 1/32nd for every 64/th you want to lower the action height.
It's a hell of a lot easier to start high and lower it than it is to start low and raise it.
(Unless you've got a saddle stretcher.)
Also, every time this comes up, the issue of action at the nut is always ignored until some blowhard comes along to remind everybody.
That has just as much influence on playability on the first 5 frets as 12th fret action height does, overall.
And finally, a good luthier traditionally offers a free fine-tuning of action after the job.
Call him (or her).

It's Brucebubs, not mine. I'll measure mine tonight.

That's the only Imperial ruler I have - those are 20ths on the left.
Australia switched from pounds/shillings/pence in 1966 and went full metric in 1974.
There are only 3 countries in the world still using Imperial. Liberia - Myanmar - USA.
Here's a 'metric' shot of my F-412.

I think, can't remember if I took anything of the saddle. Any how, plays well with .090 low E, so I don't feel the urge to change anything. I do btw, tune it a 1/2 step down, so that might make the action a tad lower...
Did you adjust the setup on yours?

That's what it said (to be O.K.):

F-150%20R%20CE%20control%20tag.jpg

Self made bone nut (with just enough action left to keep a shark fin pick stuck between 1st fret and strings):

F-150%20R%20CE%20nut%20low%20E.jpg

F-150%20R%20CE%20nut%20high%20E.jpg

After having put a lower bone saddle:

F-150%20R%20CE%20string%20action%20low%20E.jpg

1,75 mm on high E is approx. 0,070 inch
2,0 mm on low E is approx. 0,080 inch

Just to make sure it’s a typo yours is .080 not .090 like mine ?

No adjustments it’s the way it came . I’m a bit surprised by the high E but it’s not an issue.

I’ve have yet to dig into open tunings as my stupid back side is going through to many guitars lol but on a good note I’m narrowing it down lol ... I think ...

It’s in standard tune and I still need to do the audio demo with the little tune I wrote on her plus more familiar sounds I can add without copyright infringement. Lol

Hope you are enjoying yours ;)

0.080 is the low E action on my D55.
My F55 is the same as yours Ray, .090 on the low E.

Yes, its a real easy playing guitar I find. I like the low end thump a lot and it really growls a half step down. Got Dr Rares 12-53 on it now, might try Sunbeams next.

Looking forward to hearing your demo. :)
