My old friend Bill passed away, I'm going to attend his funeral mass tomorrow. He was 94 years young. US Marine in WWII, wounded on Guam and got a Purple Heart, came home from the war and spent 33 years in the local Police Department.

I met him when he was 88 - he joined Guitars 4 Vets and he was my student! Bill kept coming to Guitars 4 Vets every week until recently when he became too ill to attend.

Bill proved you're never too old to learn guitar. He never picked one up before he was 88, LOL. His fingers were pretty gnarly but he learned his chords and loved to play along in the jam sessions.

Thanks for sharing a great story. Folks like Bill and the life he lived inspires--does me, anyway.

I wonder if he took up guitar for the usual "male" reason . . . to get chicks? :chuncky:

Bill sounds like a guy who I would have enjoyed meeting. Sympathies for his passing, but congrats for getting to know him.
