Cannot find much information about Guild's D48 other than it was a limited run in '91 and '92?
Is it a D40 with a little more bling?
Do any of you own or have you played or heard one played? Is it a solid arched back mahogany? What are the specs? Thanks for any information.

A D-48 has popped up for discussion on LTG a couple times this spring... I am thinking mid-march and mid-May, but I can't find the posts (D48 is too short for LTGs search engine). From what was said in those threads, these are the notes that I added to my dread spread sheet:

D-48 (1992) Spruce top. Arched mahogany back. Bound rosewood fretboard with block pearl inlay. Hog neck.
D48XXX SN. At least 12 made?

An elusive model... good luck with your search for info.

Looks more like a deluxe D-25 with that ached 'hog back!

Thanks for your informative responses. Have inquired about one of those but no response from seller.

With the rich-looking white binding, the back view of the D48
reminds me of the back of the D17

If my 1992 D-6 (a D-40 in disguise) is any indication, build quality that year was impressively good.

Mine has a great neck angle, with super straight neck & lots of saddle - which is similarly noted by the D-48 seller on Reverb.
