I REPEAT: NO CRACK IN NCL ANYWHERE ON NECK SAVE FOR HEEL

Original case, hang tag, letter from V President Lilian, owners manual, little tag with strings specs.

Certificate stating it is one of only 57 D-70's made in 1982 signed by Leon Tell, (related to William??).

Love the wood binding.

I only have an 18" ruler here but she passes that test with flying colors, neck looks great.

only odd thing is saddle is sanded low on treble side, very low action on that side but no buzz.

This guitar with all this historical "stuff" in it walks into a guitar Center.....So hard to believe.

oh, nice sound too!

Cool . . . I like the fretboard inlays.

Is the heel cap also wood? If the heel cap is intact, maybe the finish cracks are due to the heel cap & neck heel expanding/shrinking at different rates during humid versus dry weather.

Ha!! Anyone notice the Madeira logo prominently, (and proudly), displayed on the letterhead

SCORE! Congrats!
I think the magnification makes it look worse than it is.
In fact it wouldn't surprise if there was a tiny bit of separation going on there simply as a result of finish shrinkage, the same thing that causes it to start lying down into the grain of a top over the years. It loses mass as it continues to outgas. On a top it recedes into the grain.
Noticed it on my D25 a couple of months back too, and had the same initial worry: "Uh-oh".
But it's tight.

It took me a second look but I see what you mean, it's not arced as much as one would expect, either, for a 12" fretboard radius, at least, but I have no idea what those would have had in that regard.
(@Wiley; He means the saddle not the bridge.)
Then I noticed, I'd bet those frets have been dressed at least once, they look just a little too suspiciously flat and low, and possibly that's why the saddle's been sanded too?

Well,

Been playing the past few hours, tuned it up at work, retuned a few minutes later.

Got her home and it was spot on.

The F-12's ( 4 & 5) are very sweet special guitars. Almost delicate.

This puppy is a manly man.

Been hitting a strong blues progression and some Cream/Who/SRV stuff.

This is a really professional work of art...so hard to describe.

Like a text book example of what a serious guitar should feel like.

I play this w/more gusto than anything else I've played. It begs to be pushed.

As much as I don't care for the bridge cable strings I can see why.

This top demands to be driven.

It's like going from a great blended scotch to a burly single malt Islay

Plus it's pretty.

Me like so far.

I'm going to change my sig to read: My D70 can beat your X___'s butt

I caught the post Bee but got distracted . I did have time to view the pics . Let me say very very nice score !!

I love everything about it , as Goerge Taki says , Ohhh Myyy ! Haha

The color screams I’ve been around and know a thing or two.

The binding looks beautiful , is that Maple I see in there ? Sweet ! And the inlays awesome .

The whole guitar speaks class with a little bit of kick *** to back it up .

Congrats and let’s hear it !

Sweet! That is a beautiful guitar! I’ll bet it sounds great too! Congrats!!!

Thanks,

Funny,

I was thinking last night I wonder how this beast would sound in the hands of Retro or Bluespicky!!

I'm heading out for the weekend but I'm going to post the rest of the case candy that came with it.

I think it is pretty neat that the documentation from Guild and other "stuff" made it with the guitar, a little provenance is always good.

Still can't believe someone brought this into a GC to cash out.
