Get some fine sand paper next time you change strings sand a spot inside a little bit if has a scent you smell it

Top is gloss. Back, sides and neck are satin. Neck is rock maple. Ebony faceplate on headstock. Ebony fretboard and pinless bridge is also ebony. Black binding with ivory herringbone set in black.

They've produced some fine mandolins, too. A few years ago I picked up a very sweet 2010 Breedlove American Series OO. Excellent build quality & lovely tone.
Unfortunately, it seems like I read somewhere that they've discontinued the USA-made line of mandolins, and now only have the Korean import line. But those USA models are well worth a test spin if you happen upon a used one.

Tom, that's one of the loveliest grains I've ever seen. Stunning actually. But, shame on you. Now you put the Myrtlewood suggestion deep inside my brain and I'm gonna have to do some research and check 'em out. Congrats on a really fine looking guitar!!!

And, to continue on the Myrtle appreciation, here’s some Myrtle burl I used for the faceplate of an amp I built over the winter. Just got it attached to the chassis; still need to build the cab (probably of walnut.)
