Thread: Big stars playing guild guitars ?

Big stars playing guild guitars ?

I am a newcomer to the Guild family : I hadn't paid much attention in recent years to who was playing Guild acoustics as I was more after Martins, Taylors or Gibsons at the time, and luthiers' made guitares too... Till I came across some guitars sold with an important discount in a shop, a few months ago. Makes that are not very famous here...And I got a Guild guitar again : I remembered how good they were (I've had one for a while a long time ago), and jumped on the opportunity...
So now I wonder about artists I may have been listening to, that played Guild guitars, or/and still do...I know that Richie Havens had been playing a D-40, I've seen that Eric Clapton has been advertising for the make some years ago : he'd been pictured with some Jumbo sized guitar, an F-50 or something...But who else ?

You guys here, have probably been discussing these things many times on the forum...But if you don't mind talking a bit more about it, I'll be happy to learn some more...
    Thanks

Hey Bernie, you might want to pull up a chair and work your way through this thread. Sadly, thanks to Piratebucket’s current policies, many of the pics won’t be there, but you can see the text. (Maybe start at the last page and work backwards, since the newer ones won’t have used the Pirate scum.)

Jinx Hans! You owe me a Coke! (Or preferably something that’s actually drinkable.)

Yes good thread : Jack Casady, Mississippi John Hurt, Jerry Garcia, Stephen Stills, Muddy Waters, Linda Ronstadt, Robbie Robertson and Brian Setzer, to quote a few I remember from a quick visit on page 1 and page 49 or 50, that's not bad...Makes me think I've been confusing some Guilds with big hollow-bodies by Gretsch at times...

So, the rule is to buy one an other a coke - or some drinkable thing - when posting a information that has already been given by some one else !?
Well cheers folks, and thanks a lot Chris at AcornHouse - and Hansmoust...

Just saw Bonnie Raitt in concert again a couple of weeks ago and she was playing both her F50rs. (one was her old 70s standby, the other a more recent-vintage) Her guitars sound SO full and lush and very clear!

Oh yes, Bonnie Riatt...I had seen that somewhere, and in the thread that's been mentioned earlier on I think...Forgot to say ! Excellent guitar player with a wonderful touch when she plays slide guitar...In the U.S. girls can play the guitar : here they just show off...
Stevie Ray and Paul Simon, that's been a bit unusual though, isn't it ? Same with Tom Petty (Rickenbaker) and Brian May (home-made)...Quite a few others I do not know, things to listen to then...

    Thanks you all...

From Ohio to Nederlands (or vice versa), long way to go for a beer still Chris and Hans...
